Creating a Hunger Free World on the occasion of Masi Magam

Be the change. Create a Hunger free World.

The United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization and the International Fund for Agricultural Development, UNICEF, the World Health Organization and the World Food Programme (WFP) released shocking report that says creating a hunger free world is still a challenge. Economic shocks, war and conflict prone decade and climate change quoted as possible factors for the rise in hunger digits of the decade.

“We reached the moon 50 years ago, now we talk about going to Mars, but we can’t feed everyone on the ground, It’s no longer somebody else’s problem. And if we don’t solve these problems, we pay one way or the other. So, we’re better off paying now — and paying less — than paying more later.” says the WFP’s Chief Economist

Over the last 20 years, the KAILASA Parampara has served more than 10 billion free meals through various initiatives and occassions. There is no better puja and ritual in Hindu religion than feeding a hungry living being. Annadanam (free food distribution) is Mahadanam or the greatest donation in Hindu religion. There are numerous stories in Hindu scriptures that extol the glory of Annadanam – prominent being Goddess Parvati appearing as Goddess Annapurnaeshwari and feeding Shiva. Another instant is that Karna taking rebirth as he had performed all types of donation except food donation. In Hinduism, Annadanam is performed for redemption of sins, to attain piety, to get speedy recovery from illness and also to attain moksha.

Jnanvigjnana Chakravarthi of Kailasa Paramapara, His Divine Holiness Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam is accelerating His efforts to create the Hunger free world. On 8 March 2020, KAILASA’s Pontifical Council for Hunger in association with KAILASA’s Pontifical commission for Divine Worship and Sacraments served more than hundread thousand free vegetarian organic meals celebrating Masi Magam festival. Masi Magam is a Tamil festival that is celebrated once in twelve years on specific astronomical position of the a star called magham falls on a full moon day. Millions of devotees from Adi Shaivate community gather to take the sacred dip at the wells of a place called Kumbakonam, Tamilnadu.

The free meals are distributed in places like kumbhakonam, Hosur, Pondicherry, Shankarankoil in Tamilnadu. The community who enjoyed the free meals distribution also recieved healing services and gained knowledge on other vedagamic practices.
